ABOUT PROKASE INC.

The company was originally founded in 1976 by Bruce Goode and Roger Duncan. They started out making custom frames and acrylic boxes in a shop in the backyard of their house on Maple Springs in Dallas, Texas. The demand for their custom frames and boxes grew immensely, which allowed them to buy a space on McKinney Avenue that fit their business.

In 1978, they started an official business and called it Duncan&Goode. During this time, Bruce also became a partner in a coffee shop called The Tropic of Texas, located on McKinney Avenue. Eventually the owner of all the space on the avenue sold to a company to build high rises. Unfortunately, the Tropic of Texas closed for good, but Duncan&Goode relocated to Oak Lawn in 1981. In 1995, Roger Duncan decided to leave the business for good due to the death of his father and an inheritance of land on Lake Belton.

Bruce decided to keep the business running. He rebranded and renamed the company to Prokase Inc. In 1990, Bruce made the decision to downsize space and employees of Prokase Inc. due to the decline of the economy at the time and relocated to a space on Levee, which he eventually moved out of in 2005. Prokase Inc. is currently located in the old Ford plant off of East Grand Ave and has been for 15 years now.

This business has plenty of history with a lot of blood, sweat, and tears put into it. Bruce is proud of his work and all that he has accomplished over the years. He is currently a one-man shop and he doesn’t plan to stop producing quality work anytime soon!

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

This is Willett, Bruce’s right-hand man. He likes to chew on masking balls and take naps on the job, but he provides excellent customer service.

He has been awarded employee of the month.
